"I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to be preparred for anything!! I grew up with two brothers who always got into anything and everything that they could. They were firm believers in knives, guns, and any other type of knowledge that would help me to be prepared for the "worst of" type scenario. I always thought it was a phase and as we grew up they would get over their inssistent need to know it all, I was wrong. My brother all but downloaded this book for me and I would be lying if I said I didn't find it necessary. Reading this book is 10000 times better than having to listen to my brothers lol. I found this book to be informative, helpful, direct and to the point. The imagery was really helpful in visually seeing and understanding how to actually do the knot, while the step by step directions where really helpful in understanding the execution. I like the simplicity of the book, it wasn't overwhelming with words but more simple and to the point, I enjoyed that. Then again, how wordy can a book about tying knots really get - I guess you might be surprised. I highly recommend this book - i've found myself camping and in the great outdoors and some of these knots have truly come in handy, hellllloo success! Even my boyfriend was impressed."

  • This is a great book if you're interested in prepping. I haven't done a lot of research on knots, and I wasn't sure how useful this would be for me. But guess what? This book outlines exactly HOW knots are useful in a survival or prepper situation. The book is easy to read and the guide to tying the knots is surprisingly easy to follow. I really recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning how to tie multiple knots or if you’re interested in prepping. I love how this book is set up. The knots are categorized into Basic knots, Bends, Binding knots, Loops, and Coils. The book also tells you when to use these knots and how to use them. There is also some philosophical information included in this book! There’s a rope care section as well, which I appreciate. I bought a copy for my dad as well and I know he’s gonna go crazy for it.This is a great book if you're interested in prepping. • I was so excited when I saw this book. Knot tying is a lost art. This is an excellent book for any library. Not only for “Preppers” but anyone. I remember my brother learning how to tie knots in Boy Scouts. I have watched my husband, over the years, tie different knots while fishing, hauling a load to the dump and just tieing things down. He learned this skill from his grandfather and father.

Illustrations and directions are clear and very easy to follow. It will probably take practice to get each knot exactly right. The author suggests learning to tie in front of the television or while just relaxing. There are explanations of what ropes are made from and the care and cleaning for keeping a reliable and long life. Knots are catagorized into Basic knots, Bends, Binding knots, Loops, and Coils.

“Knot craft is an ancient art.” My husband and I are excited about making a “knot board”. We will identify each knot by name and displayed what it looks like. We will display this in our home and hopefully our grandsons will enjoy it for many years. I say we need to bring back knot tying as a basic skill in our society!

  • I bought this book knowing almost nothing about knots. Previously, I had only been able to tie a very basic knot, but this book has shown me so much more. Besides the infinite usefulness of many of the different kinds of knots in this book, knot-tying is a fun, relaxing, and mentally stimulating activity. I have (k)not been frustrated while using this book thanks to the easy to follow instructions, pictures from multiple angles, and the general knot-tying advice and philosophy in the introduction. I haven't tackled any of the really complex knots, but I'm certainly closer to them when I started. In addition to just tying the knots, this book also lets me know when and how to use them; perfect for the prepper mindset and knowledge toolkit. The rope care section is also a nice bonus in this book of knots, and I hope to make my ropes last as long as possible through all the knots. Great for the adventurer, prepper, or just someone looking for a new hobby!
  • Last time I tied knots was for a theatre class some years back. I wish I had this book then. It would have been a great tool. Theatre is just one of the many practical applications for knot usage, in addition to emergency and survival needs. Author Scott Finazzo shares his knot knowledge; from its history to the different types of rope.
You want knots? You get knots. Finazzo does not disappointed, giving the reader 100 to choose from. Some of the knots in the book the reader may have seen, but probably never knew the name. Whether a knot intermediate or someone looking to learn, Finazzo made this knot guide easy to follow, each step clear and concise, accompanied by a picture. The type of knots decribed in the book are separated by difficulty, starting with the more common knots and becoming more complicated as the book progresses. Even the more complicated ones are not hard to follow, as the book gives detailed steps on the process.
  • This is a good knot book. Love the Knot Notes and Tips. However, the illustrations are all in black and white and it is a challenge, to say the least, to really see how the knots are made or configured. Once the reader gets used to the very poor washed out illustrations, this book is a good resource.
Color is an invaluable tool in describing knots, and other than the cover, this Preppers guide lacks color within the pages.
    Hence the three stars.
